SEXTANT is a free, open access journal. All published works are freely available to view, download, and share. We do not charge fees to authors or readers, as our goal is to support decolonial, accessible scholarship. We are committed to transparency, editorial integrity, and rigorous evaluation of submitted work.
I. EDITORIAL POLICY
Articles are assessed through an editorial review process. Each submission is evaluated by members of the editorial team for originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, clarity, and scholarly contribution. The editorial team may request revisions before acceptance.
The journal follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. All submissions are screened for originality, and we do not accept work that has been published elsewhere. Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest and ensure that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript.
The final decision on acceptance or rejection rests with the Managing Editor, based on the reviewers’ recommendations and SEXTANT‘s editorial standards.
Beginning with submissions received in 2026, SEXTANT will be implementing a peer review process for academic articles and research papers. Manuscripts will be evaluated by independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject matter. Reviews will be conducted in double-blind format.
If you’re interested in becoming a peer reviewer for our journal, we’d love to hear from you. Please email us at sextant@ucd.ie to discuss how you can contribute your expertise.
