Police State, Self-portrait, Lake Marginal, and Transition: Four Poems from J Andros

ABSTRACT
As a person deeply invested in liberatory frameworks, I recognize that the way people use language is an important marker of progress. As a trans and queer transmasculine person (part of what I call the lightb community) expressing myself has always been about editing, subverting, and co-opting the English language. As a writer and artist, the ability to attach text to space and convey my politics and philosophy through poetics has felt rejuvenating and revolutionary. These poems and the writings of my peers and mentors have shown me nuanced ways of moving forward with the work of discussing gender in the context of the contemporary world. These four poems are excerpts of a larger collection, now seeking publication, titled Social Ops.
