ABSTRACT

While it may appear that the peak of anti-feminist/anti-SJW humour has passed, the manosphere is still alive, active, and growing rapidly. Many young people from the Global North who were actively online during the 2010s have to a certain extent, either found or engaged with alt-right or manosphere communities because of the algorithms of social media sites. The manosphere in the last few years has become a relevant talking point with the rise of men committing terror acts due to extreme hatred for women from online communities within the manosphere, particularly incels. Throughout the summer of 2022, there has been a recent resurgence in manosphere activity with the rise in popularity of podcaster Andrew Tate, who promotes ‘traditional’ masculine ideals while advocating for violence against women. This online brochure seeks to engage young men and show the warning signs and dangers of online radicalisation into misogynistic ideologies. Combating online radicalisation is a constant fight in the digital age, and this brochure serves as a comprehensive but concise guide to the manosphere.
